From the author: My view on the problem of choice Each of us faces many choices every day. Speaking about choice, I mean different situations, starting with the choice of toothpaste and ending with difficult life situations. Some are sure that they need to seek support from others, family, relatives. For others, to make a decision, they must stroke a rabbit’s foot, or spit over the left shoulder. Still others simply listen to their intuition and make a choice. Let's try to figure out what choice is and what it is used with? Choosing, just like sleeping, drinking and eating, is a natural need of a modern person, this is how we realize free will and feel that life is in our hands. But the choice does not always bring a positive result, or the result you are waiting for stretches out over time, and this is also frustrating. Often such a state when a person chooses, goes through, compares factors for a long time, tries on the pros and cons, drags on for so long that we we stop doing anything altogether, and at the same time we feel fatigue, anxiety, creeping fear, and uncertainty. But sometimes the very desire not to choose is in a state of constant choice, this is a choice. How do we understand that there is a need to choose? Initially , a need is born, which, as a rule, a person clearly recognizes as interest, curiosity. And here, as a rule, there are already two or more options that a person considers in order to satisfy the need. Next, the person makes a comparison or “trying on” with his values or social roles, and the social role in the choice, in my opinion, is of paramount importance. Because losing your face by taking the wrong step in front of your family, your boss, or your neighbor’s grandmother is always scary, and this is what pushes us to further “trying on” and comparing. And here it is no longer a choice from what you want for yourself, but a selection of what is favorable for others. And everyone seems to be happy with everything, but your soul is getting worse and worse. And it turns out that we are balancing between the “correct” and the “desired” choices. And what are you balancing between? What values and priorities guide you? You can learn about this and much more at the therapeutic group “My Choice about...” All you have to do is make a choice... and it will definitely be the right one!!! Kristina Borzova
